Grand Opening of new Play facilities in Wolverton
Friends of the Park, Wolverton celebrate 4 years of hard work on Saturday 16th April when their transformed play facilities are officially opened by the Mayor of Milton Keynes.The group, which was established in 2007, has spent a huge amount of time fundraising, running events in the park and campaigning and for improvements to the play facilities and the park has now undergone an incredible transformation thanks to a grant of £50,000 from WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental) and £50,000 from the government Playbuilder scheme.Marie Osborne, Chair of the group said "There has been a real excitement in Wolverton as local people have watched the changes to the park taking place, and I know that it wlll make a huge difference to the lives of children and young people in the area"The Grand Opening on Saturday 16th April is taking place between 2-4pm, and there will be free activities for children and adults including: art & craft, table tennis, Football, Den Building, Bouncy Slide, Zumba Classes, Children’s wood turning, Mini Strikers, food stalls and much more... not to mention the fantastic new play facilities.Local children have designed signs for the three entrances on Victoria Street and Stacey Avenue, and local volunteers and businesses have donated their time and expertise to make the event possible.The fundraising and campaigning doesn’t stop there! Friends of the Park have twinned the Palli Unnayan Seva Samiti school in India that desperately need a swing for their school park.
