AGF Supports LS Events and AEG Presents Sustainability Targets
During Uber One presents All Points East (APE) festival 2024, AGF’s sustainability consultants Victoria Gomez, Helen Freundberg and Lucy Scrase implemented several key initiatives to minimise environmental impact and promote sustainability:
Back-of-House sorting facility: We set up a sorting facility using repurposed wooden pallets to manage the general mixed recycling collected from front of house bins with the help of NuGroup. The recycling waste was carefully sorted into various categories, including cans, plastic and soft plastics, e-waste, cardboard, glass, and general waste, ensuring proper disposal and recycling improvements. This was put in place to gather data on the waste stream’s cross-contamination levels at APE and inform stakeholders for future decisions on waste management.
Eco Food Labels created by our AGF team show the carbon impact of menus to help audiences make better food choices. These labels range from A to E ratings, with A being the lowest environmental impact, and E being the highest. Click here to learn more.
Soft plastic collection: Working with MyGroup, AGF facilitated the collection of soft plastics across the festival site, helping reduce plastic waste and ensure that these materials were recycled responsibly.
Food salvage: for APE this year, AGF worked with City Harvest to salvage surplus food from the festival traders and crew/artist catering. This initiative aimed to reduce food waste by redistributing unused food items and ingredients to those in need
Donation of materials: AGF coordinated the donation of leftover materials from the festival throughout the build, break, and operations, to local charities and communities, supporting reuse and benefiting the local area.
These efforts were part of the festival’s sustainability initiatives and broader strategy and targets to reduce waste, reduce emissions, and enhance community involvement.
