LOW EMISSION FESTIVALS

“let’s stop 1/2 million tonnes of co2 emissions”

Power providers, sustainability experts and festivals* have come together to reduce fuel consumption and associated carbon emissions from live events.

The Low Emission Festivals (LEF) is a project led by AGF (A Greener Future), with contributions from LIVEAssociation of Independent Festivals (AIF) and participating festivals and power providers.

Phase 1 included the gathering of information and data from UK festivals and power providers. In addition we completed a power data survey with a number of early adopter festivals and power contractors to analyse the impact of actions on fuel consumption, and opportunities for further reductions.

The Low Emission Festivals (LEF) initiative amplifies good actions, tools and resources, speeds up adoption of solutions, and identifies obstacles and opportunities to change both the energy mix and the culture of powering events.

*LEF is initially focused on the UK but will go Europe wide with demand.

The LEF project was made possible with the support of The Green Britain Foundation.

LEF PHASE 2:

If you have data relating to energy consumption, fuel use and power provisions and would like to be a part of further in depth analysis in Phase 2, please get in touch.

A PRIOR STUDY

In 2019, a study by Hope Solutions and Zap Concepts with support from AGF, AIF, Julies Bicycle and Powerful Thinking, showed UK outdoor events were creating the equivalent of 1/2 million tonnes of CO2 emissions in unnecessary fuel burn every year. Since then a lot of work has been done to improve with increased guidance, awareness and solutions, but there is still some way to go.
