Congratulations to the UK A Greener Festival Award Winner 2019, Green Gathering!!!!!We at AGF honour the brilliant people of Green Gathering for their visionary sustainability practices and policies. Leading by example, Green Gathering demonstrate how a sustainability education paired with low impact alternatives, reduce waste and change perceptions. Here are some of the key policy takeaways the 2019 UK A Greener Festival Award Winner Green Gathering!!
Electric power & lighting
Policy: Power used at the festival is derived from renewable sources.
Transport
Policy: Crew, artists and the public are to be encouraged to minimise emissions in their travel choices. On site journeys should be minimised when possible and fuel-efficient driving methods adhered to. 
Heating and cooking
Policy: Energy for heating and cooking to be derived from sustainable sources where possible.
Food and drink
Policy: Local and affordable 100% meat- & fish-free food and ethically/sustainably sourced fair trade products such as beverages. Strict rules for minimising disposable waste and fully compostable system.
Bars
Policy: Alcohol sourced from local producers and/or sustainable sources served in reusable containers. Only in-house bars on site, aiming to raise funds to support The Green Gathering festival.
Re-use, recycling and waste
Policy: The use of disposable items and production of waste is discouraged and minimised by promotion of reuse, upcycling and repair. Genuine waste is composted or recycled where possible and education is provided on recycling categories and minimising waste to landfill/incineration.
Education, social impact & behaviour change
Policy: To encourage positivity, communication, offer information and knowledge across the festival and through social media to stimulate and inspire current and future generations of responsible humans.
What The Award Means
As the world is finally waking up to environmental issues, festivals/individuals have consequently taken positive steps to make, sustainable changes. For the 11th year, A Greener Festival will participate at the UK Festival Awards, presenting its eponymous and highly respected, A Greener Festival Award. This prestigious accolade celebrates the festival AGF recognises as most effective in its dedication to sustainability. As a result, AGF champions exemplary operations and shine a light on the people and organisations making significant progress in sustainable events. 
The Assesment Details
Firstly, assessments include 10 categories, waste, power, water, transport, communications and local area impacts. Additionally. festivals that apply undergo rigorous assessment including, site visits from AGF’s expert assessors and cutting edge, post-event evidence analysis. This year's nominees have shown a real dedication to sustainability and improving the industry. We at AGF feel compelled to honour those industry leaders making a greener future. We, therefore, demand advances in sustainability get the exposure and above all, the respect they deserve.
