Are you a Student Recycling Champion? Win your way to Reading or Leeds Festival 2014

Are you recycling savvy? A student who is dedicated to reducing your carbon foot print?Then this is your opportunity to make a difference, because we’re looking for a team of Student Recycling Champions to help spread the recycling message at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals.Competition organisers Every Can Counts have teamed up with National Student Magazine and Festival Republic, which runs some of the UK’s major music events, to launch a competition that gives our winners the chance to see how recycling works at Reading and Leeds festivals and make a valuable contribution to the event’s environmental efforts. Winners will also get the opportunity to work with industry leaders to gain an impressive experience to add to their CV, plus plenty of time to enjoy some of the bands on the line-up.To be in with a chance of winning, you simply need to suggest an innovative idea which would encourage more festival-goers to recycle their empty drink cans. It could be a new way of rewarding recyclers for saving their cans, a bigger and better way to promote the recycling message, or simply a way of making recycling more appealing to the festival goers.So, if you think you’ve got what it takes to help Every Can Counts and Festival Republic make a difference, send your big idea to  studentchampions@citypress.co.uk. You can also support your written idea with video, imagery or a good old fashioned presentation.A judging panel made up of industry professionals will pick six lucky winners who will form two teams of Student Recycling Champions. Each team member will receive a wristband enabling them to work for two days, Friday 22^nd and Saturday 23^rd August and then enjoy the festival in the evenings and all day on Sunday 24^th August.The winners will see behind the scenes of the festival’s recycling operation, work closely with Every Can Counts to promote recycling on site, interacting with festival-goers and encouraging them to recycle more. You will also need to be available to take part in a training workshop prior to the festival weekend, and will be expected to contribute towards communications around the festival e.g. writing about your experiences through guest blogs and taking part in interviews.The competition is open to students who are currently studying, or have graduated in or after 2013, from a UK university or college.
