The bosses of Sainsburys, Carphone Warehouse, Kingfisher, United Business Media, Alchemy Group and Compass are forming a lobby group to block the project arguing that the Government have failed to even demonstrate a viable business vase, let alone address concerns about the environment. They say a third runway would not generate more routes to new destinations and that comparing London (served by five airports) to other European capitals is misleading. London First, which represents London's businesses, had been supportive of the third runway but agreed that there was no unanimity amongst the business community in London or elsewhere in the country. Ian Cheshire, chief executive of Kingfisher, was at pains to point out that the group was not politically motivated saying that "if we made the wrong decision on the grounds of business then people would ask why no one from business said anything at the time". Well now they have, but I wonder who is listening? The Guardian  Monday 4th May  Leading businessmen launch protest against Heathrow's third runway[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
