First Speakers and Sessions Announced for GEI 2016!
The eighth edition of the UK’s leading conference for sustainability at live events will take place on Thursday 3 March, and we can now reveal further details regarding the conference programme.
Taking place the day before ILMC begins at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington (the home of the ILMC), this year’s edition of GEI will include:
* T In The Park’s Steve Taylor - who will discuss the challenges that the event encountered when they relocated to Strathallan Castle. A move that required an Environmental Impact Assessment and full planning application. The session will find out if they were able to meet the requirements of local stakeholders and regulators.* Representatives from festivals from various countries will speak about the unique or similar challenges that they face in meeting and understanding their environmental impact, kicking off with Lake of Stars, Malawi.* Powerful Thinkers will present The Show Music Go On and debate theFestival Vision: 2025. Delegates will have the opportunity to help shape and join this industry-wide public commitment to our own sustainability targets.* ILMC’s Greg Parmley will talk about the actions that the conference is taking to implement their sustainability targets, what brought the alliance between GEI and ILMC.* The Greener Festival Awards, launched on the 10th anniversary of A Greener Festival, will be presented by Claire O’Neill and Teresa Moore.These new sessions are in addition to a Keynote speech from Joanna Haigh, director of the Grantham Institute - Climate Change and the Environment. Following the historic consensus reached in Paris at UN’s COP21, Joanna will provide insight into what is happening, what action we need to focus on, and how we will have to adapt to our changing environment.More sessions and speakers to be announced in the coming weeks!
