New solar power petition

We Support Solar is making  good progress towards a better Clean Energy Cashback rate for solar PV in the UK.

Now, they are kicking off the second phase of a campaign before the close of the ‘Consultation on Renewable Electricity Financial Incentives’ on the 15th of October 2009. The campaign ‘Small Change. Big Difference’ calls for at least 10p to be added to each of the proposed solar PV tariff levels, in order that they deliver between 5 and 8% return on investment, which is what the government claims it wants to achieve.

Another 10p would also create nearly 30,000 jobs in the UK solar power sector by 2014, which is again exactly what the government claims to want; more green jobs in the UK.The best way you can raise this issue up the political agenda is by writing to elected MPs. You can find a template letter on the We Support Solar web site and a ‘postcode finder' to help you find your MP, so this action will only take you about two minutes to complete. Visit http://wesupportsolar.net/act-now/ to take action NOW

They have also created an ‘info pack’ to help you (and your customers if you have any!) understand solar PV, the proposed Feed-in Tariff and why WSS are calling for another 10p:

  • How PV works (2 page pdf)
  • An animated video on ‘How the Feed-in Tariff’ works
  • Some FAQ and answers covering the detail of the  'Feed in Tariff'
  • A copy of the ‘10-20p more’ animated UK map (used on our homepage)
  • A selection of images and banners to highlight the campaign
