Stones headline Glastonbury 2013
The Rolling Stones have been finally confirmed as headliners for the 2103 Glastonbury Festival along with Mumford & Sons and the Arctic Monkeys. The iconic Pyramid Stage will also feature shows from Primal Scream, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Elvis Costello, Professor Green, Jake Bugg, Dizzee Rascal, country star Kenny Rogers, Rita Ora, Rokia Traore, Rufus Wainwright and festival veteran Billy Bragg.Big names on the Other Stage include Portishead, Foals, Chase & Status, The xx, Example, Smashing Pumpkins, Mercury Prize-winners Alt-J, John Lydon's band PiL, The Lumineers and Alabama ShakesThe West Holts Stage has 1970s' disco pioneers Chic, Tom Tom Club, rap stalwarts Public Enemy and Maverick Sabre, whilst the John Peel Stage boasts Hurts, Crystal castles, Everything Everything, and Johnny Marr. Over in the Park Stage Dinosaur Jr will be giving a show alongside The Horrors, Django Django and Rodriguez, The Avalon Stage has Lucy Rose, The Oysterband and Evan Dando, and the Acoustic Tent boasts Stevie Winwood along with Sinead O’Connor, another Wainwright (Martha) and a show from ex Rolling Stone bassist Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings - amongst many many others.Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger tweeted "Can't wait to play Glastonbury. I have my wellies and my yurt." Really? Keith Richards added "we can't wait to play Glastonbury, see you on a summer's day in England."One tweeter commented "Wow, Rolling Stones at Glastofest - I am infinitely jealous of everyone going, that really will be phenomenal" and another posted "Ooh! Rolling Stones playing Glasto. * pouts, puts hands on hips, struts up and down the kitchen - explains to daughter what I’m doing *. "It is about as big a coup as we ever thought would be possible," said Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis. "It is something we never thought we'd be able to pull off – a dream booking.
