AGF Spotlight in Forbes: Sustainability Insights from our CEO Claire O'Neill

Recently, AGF was featured in a Forbes article, highlighting our AGF Festival Sustainability Report 2024. Our CEO, Claire O’Neill, shared valuable insights on sustainability and festivals. She pointed out that the sustainability challenges faced by most live events reflect broader societal issues, such as food, transport, and energy. Claire also noted that the push towards sustainability has intensified in recent years due to increasing regulations, funding requirements, and the growing emphasis on environmental responsibility by corporations.

Claire O’Neill:

“If you're organizing a festival, you're creating a gathering of people coming together, which can serve as a catalyst for change.”

AGF's Collaborations: Insights from Diverse Reports

We've been collaborating with the Green Gathering Festival to explore the environmental impact of their event, leading to the creation of two research reports: "Behavioural Change research Report" and "Carbon Footprint Report." These reports highlight the festival's influence in inspiring greener lifestyles and achieving a carbon emission rate of 7kg CO2e per attendee, notably lower than the UK resident's daily footprint of 19.5 kg CO2e, as detailed in the Green Gathering's latest blog post.

For a deeper dive into these reports, visit our dedicated blog post here.

We've also collaborated with the sustainable impact agency BetterNotStop on the second edition of their landmark ‘More Than Music’ industry report, which explores what UK music festivals are doing to make the world a better place. In this year’s report, including analysis from Deloitte, they highlight that 46% of festivals have sustainability policies, and sadly, 19% of music festivals from 2022 no longer exist. For a detailed look at the findings, explore our blog post here.
