AGF's Alex Fintoni Presents Annual Sustainability Report at Green Operations Europe Group Workshop
AGF's very own Alex Fintoni took the stage at the international Green Operations Europe Group workshop in Bratislava to explore festival sustainability. At the event, Alex presented the AGF annual sustainability report results. In our 2024 report, we've compiled a year's worth of research, analysis, and number crunching from over 40 festivals spanning Europe. The report's sections cover mobility, food & drink, water & sanitation, power & fuel use, waste & recycling and carbon emissions, revealing how festivals are shaping a greener future! Held on April 8 & 9 at @novacvernovka, this event boasted an exhilarating program featuring inspiring keynotes, presentations, case studies, workshops, talks and networking events. Here are some words from Alex about the event:
"I was invited to take part in the Green Operations Europe Group workshop in Bratislava, to present the AGF annual report results to the event participants. The Go Group workshop was co-hosted by the team behind Pohoda festival, and brought together event industry professionals and organisers from across Europe and particularly Eastern Europe.
Very often there is a risk of tunnel vision and only talking about the actions taken by large well known festivals in Western Europe.
It is important to understand the particular challenges festivals are facing in Bulgaria, Romania, Czech Republic or Slovakia… And it was also great to hear what is being done and the ways these events are innovating to address their specific challenges. The Go Group workshops are extremely useful events, where festival professionals and organisers can get together and are provided the time and space to exchange best practice and share solutions.
Particularly inspiring was the venue where the workshop was hosted - Nova Cvernovka: a community-owned cultural centre which used to be a chemistry college, and has now been transformed into a multifunctional event and creative space, providing a community garden, accommodation, and a public library."
