Hungarian conference looks at 'New Ways in Arts Management

March the 3rd will see the launch of the new book New Ways and New Trends in Arts Management with an international conference in Budapest, Hungary on arts management. The goal of the conference is to initiate and give place to a debate among those who are involved in cultural and arts management in Hungary who think that well-trained professional arts managers are especially needed today, who are capable of giving high quality services. The conference also aims at drawing attention to the current issues of arts and business, to the new trends that are becoming more and more important in the near future for the professionals concerned in the various types of arts and business cooperations.The event has dual aim: to show the latest trends and questions in the field of arts and business through numerous presentations on one hand, and on the other hand to present a new publication (textbook) which may be considered as a pioneer initiative in the education of arts management.In the field of arts and business the conference focuses on those two areas that currently form our everyday life and usual habits and hopefully the way we look at our life and future: sustainable development and the preservation of our environment and opportunities for culture given by the era of digital change, new digital technologies and the new media.The conference takes place in cooperation of Arts & Business Kft. and the Hungarian bureau of British Council and pays particular attention to show the best practices from the United Kingdom. Keynote speakers at the event are  Ben Challis, General Counsel, Glastonbury Festivals Ltd., Co-Founder, A Greener Festival and visiting professor at Buckinghamshire New University and Marc Sands, director of Tate Media and Audiences. The event is organized under the patronage of László Baán, director of Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest.Speakers on the issue of sustanability include   Szép Fruzsina – programme director of Sziget Festival Hungary, Barcza Dániel – director of the Design Institute, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, and leader of ’Climate Protection Workshop’ of the university and Gross András – manager of Medence Csoport.Speakers on new media and the digital age include  Agata Waclawik-Wejman, policy counsellor of Google (responsible for the Google Books project), Bencsik Barnabás, director of Ludwig Museum, Budapest, E. Csorba Csilla, Petőfi Museum of Literature (the operator of Digital Academy of Literature), György Péter, Ph.D., professor of Eötvös Lóránd University, Institute for Art Theory and Media Studies and Gyenge Anikó, Ph.
